Collection

Deeply feminine and uncomplicated describe the collection
Autumn/Winter 2010/2011 by Barbara Lohmann.
A touch of romanticism is evident in a sensual and grown-up variation. Rich, warm colors like Mocca, Botticelli Red, Honey, Lapis, Smokey Quartz and Midnight set the tone and express the nostalgic, melancholy-tinged thoughtful mood that fits to the cold season.

Fabrics & Manufacturing

Barbara Lohmann creates non-replaceable fashion which
is precisely manufactured from selected materials and lasts for
more than one season.
In producing her collections, Barbara
Lohmann makes no compromises. She
works exclusively with selected family
businesses in France, Italy and Ger-
many. Only there can she find the rare
precious fabrics and yarns which she
needs for her creations. They are prod-
uced by hand using traditional tech-
niques passed down from generation to
generation under fair conditions, which
is non- negotiable for Barbara Lohmann
and the essence and core of her brand.
There is no alternative to the decision to
use the best materials and high-class
workmanship which today has become
the absolute exception.

This fine yarn is composed of baby alpaca and is very light with delicate individual hairs and therefore particularly soft. Its unique charm unfolds when hand-knitted.
This exclusively printed fabric is a lightweight pure wool mousseline, used for clothing. Through our high-quality production we can produce, with this delicate fabric, beautiful vests and jackets. With the addition of fine goat suede leather applications, the special quality of these styles is perfectly emphasized.
This unusual yarn consists of loops called Cashmere Boucle. Because of the loops, the single thread, which is very fine, gets more volume. Producing, and especially knitting the yarn requires years of experience and can only be carried out by specialists.
The weaver of this product is from Paris and decades ago, developed the first fabrics for Coco Chanel. The typical tweeds became world famous. Still today, this weaver produces the exclusive tweeds for the haute couturier. For many years, they have been an integral part of the collections of Barbara Lohmann. Mostly hand-woven, often decorated with unusual yarns or embroidery, they are the highlights of every collection.
An exclusively printed silk velvet which is so light and fine, that the velvet weave is only recognizable after a second look. The exclusive print consists of twelve colors. To print so precisely on such fine velvet is a skill in itself. The design is reminiscent of the traditional indian pattern of the powerful Maharanas.
We always work with the best and the finest cashmere 2-ply yarns as a starting thread and then knit them into the multi-threaded sweaters we all love. What make the knitting so special are the various areas of color, the intarsia. The edges and the collars are doubled and the buttons are handmade of genuine horn.

Barbara Lohmann

Her fashion is an expression of craftsmanship which sees tradition
not as a guideline but as a signpost.
When Barbara Lohmann is asked to
characterize her fashion, she likes to
use the comparison of the composition
of a perfume. The first impression, the
head note, is reflected in the changing
designs throughout the collections. The
heart note is the workmanship, the
craftmanship per se. The base note re-
flects material and quality as consistent components. Until today, a timeless,
playful and feminine elegance is the
trademark of her collections. The cloth-
ing styles as seen in the film classics
`Cat on a hot tin roof' , To Catch a
Thief`, or `High Society' let the fashion
of Barbara Lohmann come alive. The
waistline borrowed from the 1940`s
gives women the feeling of being well
dressed. It is quite accurate if one thinks
of the stlye icon Lauren Bacall. A fur-
ther source of inspiration is the asian
culture which the designer grew to love
on her many trips to Indonesia, India,
and Nepal. Colors and ornamentation
enrich her fashion today, and make it
noble and precious. Barbara Lohmann
represents credibility, natural and un-
pretentious luxury. Her fashion is avail-
able only in a limited quantity. It is an
expression of craftsmanship which sees
tradition not as a guideline but as
a signpost.
